Passion Drives Us

Sheila Bubka, the owner of Sound Environmental Associates LLC, is a Certified Industrial Hygienist with a passion for quality, innovation, and problem-solving. Before starting Sound, she managed the Emergency Management Department at Brookhaven National Laboratory and the Environmental Safety and Health Departments for Honeywell International, and Canon USA Inc.

In 2002, Sheila recognized the growing demand for mold assessments and sound remediation protocols and created Sound Environmental Associates. The business has grown rapidly and now employs 48 professionals specializing in all sectors of Environmental Safety and Health. Sheila believes her success comes from quickly evaluating clients’ problems and creating precise and cost-effective solutions.

AKS International—Bronx Community College | Utility Upgrade

  • Provided an onsite Safety Representative to oversee the safety and environmental aspects for the Utility Upgrade Project

Citnalta Construction Corporation—Five stations | Broadway Line in the Boroughs of Manhattan and Brooklyn

  • Provided engineering services to develop an Environmental Boring Plan
  • Performed soil sampling to characterize the soil for disposal

Defoe Corporation—Verrazano Narrows Bridge | Roadway and Sign Structure Improvements

  • Provided an on-site Safety Representative to oversee the safety and environmental aspects of the Roadway and Sign Structure Improvement project.
  • Developed Field Sampling Plan for sampling soils on-site.
  • Performed soil sampling to characterize the soil for disposal.

Delphi Plumbing and Heating—NYCHA | Water Meter Replacement

  • Performed asbestos and lead sampling for the piping being replaced in 660 buildings throughout the Five Boroughs

EW Howell Construction Group—New York Botanical Garden | Conservatory Dome

  • Performed confined space entry monitoring.

Hellman Electric Corporation—Harlem River Lift Bridge, Robert F. Kennedy (Triboro) Bridge and Whitestone Bridge | Installation of Integrated Security Systems

  • Provided an on-site Safety Representative to oversee the safety and environmental aspects of the bridge projects.

Jervis B. Webb—LaGuardia Airport | Terminal Building Replacement

  • Provided an on-site Safety Representative to oversee the safety and environmental aspects of installation of the luggage conveyor systems throughout the airport.

Kiewitt Incorporated and Jett Industries Incorporated—Wards Island Wastewater Treatment Plant | Settling System Replacement

  • Provided on-site Safety Services.
  • Performed air and bulk sampling for Asbestos, Lead, and PCB Monitoring.
  • Confined Space Monitoring and Soil Sampling.
